CARPENTER BEES

You might notice large, black bees hovering around the outside of your home. These are commonly carpenter bees, looking for a favorable site to build their nest. Carpenter bees create holes in untreated wood, like siding, eaves, fascia boards, and decks, and use the holes as a nesting site, depositing several eggs in each hole. Holes are typically the size of a nickel and an 1-2 inches deeps. If left alone, carpenter bees will continue to expand their populations, reusing old holes and building news.

To eliminate carpenter bees, Truly Nolen's Carpenter Bee Program treats existing holes, as well as adjacent areas to prevent reinfestation. After a week, we recommend the homeowner plug the holes with wood filer and repaint/restain the area. To discourage future infestations, we always recommend that the homeowner regularly paint or stain wood around the home to make the wood less susceptible to an attack
